Most plans focus on goal setting without first helping you to create your underlying vision for vitality – the kind of life you long for.

What kind of life do you really long for? What is missing right now? Understanding this is crucial because you will need a motivational vision for your future in order to be able to reach the goals you set for yourself. Goals alone are simply not fuel enough for the journey. Without a vitality vision we eventually get derailed and fall back into our old ruts.

Most plans focus on condemning comfort foods without asking the big question, “Why do you need so much comfort?” Why is your life so uncomfortable?

The problem with comfort foods is, of course, they are comforting. The insightful author, Brene’ Brown, describes this as needing to wear a shell because you live in a briar patch. Eating processed, sugary comfort foods along with other bad habits we develop are like putting on a shell to help us from being poked in the briar patch of life. We rarely stop to ask why we live in a briar patch in the first place. The only way to take off the shell of these bad habits is to get the heck out of the briars. When your life becomes more comfortable and sustainable overall there is less and less need for props and crutches.

Most plans lack a whole-person approach to life change. 

This goes right along with moving out of the briar patch of life. In order to relocate yourself out of the sharp briars you will need to look more comprehensively at the reasons your life feels unsustainable as it is and requires so much comfort.
